Skating Fun

Trying to work my way through some old photos. These were from New Year's Day 2003, the first time Connor was on skates.

I took color inspiration from this photo at Scrap Schemes:

and used this great sketch by Deanne Burton at Sisterhood of Scrap.

And this is what I came up with:

Here's what I came up with for my 14 yo nephew's birthday. 14 yo boys could probably care less about getting a card from Auntie, but hey, it's what I do. To help me come up with an idea, I used this week's color combo from kwernerdesigns (although based on my poor photo taking skills, it's hard to tell it's the right color combo) and sketch #51 at Triple the Sketch (both pictured below):

Feel Better Soon

Today's card is for an Aunt of mine who is waiting patiently for the call for a surgery she's been needing. I thought I'd get the card ready for when she gets the call.
I combined two challenges today:

This ad challenge from 365 cards - I included some flowers and of course the colors white & pink with a bit of green.




and this week's sketch from Card Patterns, a sketch blog that I just found (lots of great eye candy by the design team).

Birdie thinking of you

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to create a card in honor of Easter, specifically with either an EGG or an OVAL as the dominating shape. It is not necessary to make an Easter card. This is what I came up with:

Today is day 33 on 365 cards and I found out that I won the challenge for last month!! Yippee, some fun mail on the way - some Sierra Pacific card stock, a set Colorbok chipboard alphabets & numbers, and rhinestones from Kaiser scrapbooks. I've been having a lot of fun with the challenges there, so this was a super added bonus!!!

Back to today's challenge - use only the top 1/3 or the bottom 1/3 of your card, leaving the other 2/3 blank. I love the look of simple cards so loved this challenge. I received this ribbon in a RAK from a scrap friend and thought it would be perfect for a masculine card.

Green is the Color

I used up a bunch of old papers, letter stickers & epoxy stickers to come up with this green layout. Challenge #41 at Method Playground was to create a monochromatic layout. Being true Rider fans who even bleed green, it was easy to decide what color to pick. For those that don't know, the title of the layout is the first two lines of our CFL team's song. I also used this week's great sketch at Got Sketch?, which made the layout come together fairly quickly.

A start to a new month at 365 cards and the first challenge of April is to use water as a source of inspiration for a card. Water definitely makes me think of going to the beach so I came up with this:
