Danielle's b'day

I created this card with my 6 yo DD for her bff's birthday on Friday. It remained pretty simple, and I would have added more black, but she wouldn't go for that! We used Kelly Jo's color chef challenge #4 and this weeks card Patterns sketch.

I usually don't help the kids with creating their friends cards, but I wanted to join in on my friend Ali's challenge for Sisterhood of Scrap, and one of the options in the challenge was to create a project with a 7 on it. Since this was a perfect opportunity I had to help her.

Unity flowers

Today's card is one I made for color inspiration #50 at kwernerdesigns.com

My coloring is so off here, but really that is brown not black!

I think I'll keep this one to send to my Aunt while she undergoes her chemo treatments, hopefully it will brighten her day.

Fishing Thanks

I rec'd this set of stamps from Unity today in the mail. It's actually a winter themed set and this little guy was ice fishing, but I covered the part of the stamp that had the hole in the ice. Hopefully with these colors it looks summery enough. We frequently visit friends cottages during the summer, so thought it would be nice card to have on hand for that. I placed an order from Unity stamps and spent enough to get a freebie, so this set was a nice little surprise.

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to use a fish on a card, so getting this in the mail today was perfect. I also used the sketch found here, by Jen del Muro, and the color combination came from Jennifer Buck for challenge #1 at Unity's birthday party celebration.

baby Congrats

Friends just became grandparents this weekend, so this card is for them.
I combined 2 challenges, yesterday's sketch at 365 cards and challenge #10 at Sisterhood of Scrap to use this poster as inspiration for a card or layout.

I tried to brighten the picture, but it's now too bright, the colors are much softer.

I was just alerted to some more generous ladies giving away some blog candy, so passing on the info:

Quick Easter page

Just a quick page of some Easter pics from 06 for Scott's album. He is 'much' too old for the typical Easter colors and such, so went more masculine on this one. I used sketch #8 from The Scrappiest, a new sketch blog I just found.

Yakety Yak

I decided it was time for a girly page. I get tired of working on the boys stuff!
My daughter is a talker, she talks constantly, CONSTANTLY. It's ironic since her speech development was a bit delayed. Just shows they will do it when they are ready.

Those of you who visit my blog know that I like challenges. It gets me creating pages that don't all look alike. This time, this page incorportates 5 challenges. I didn't really intend for that, but that's how it turned out.

1. This week's color challenge at Color Combos Galore - a new place I just found that has some amazing color combos and helps me out of my rut.
2. Sketch # 16 at Inspired blueprints, even though my page looks very different since I made it 8.5 x 11 and switched the journalling & photo around.
3. Challenge # 4 for Sisterhood of Scraps birthday bash, to use a title of a 50's song as the title of a layout, and use 5 circle elements (my buttons)
4. Mix It Ups challenge this week to use rub-ons in an unusual fashion. I used them the usual way and then also used them on two buttons, a plastic one & a fabric one.
5. Jennifer's challenge at SBCH to use flowers on a layout.

Phew!

Thanks Coach Roger

Tomorrow is our son's hockey windup party so I need a thank you card for the coach. Unfortunately, the picture coloring is terrible again, but here it is anyway. I used this week's sketch from Card Patterns.

I sure plan on looking in at Rose's other favorites for some inspiration.

1 Cool Dude

Pics from summer 03. Used Jennifer Buck's Clean & Simple sketch #5 so it came together fairly quickly.

another Masculine b'day

A birthday card for my brother in law. Today's challenge at 365 cards was to use something recycled on the card, in honor of Earth day. I used a piece or cardboard as well as some old buttons on this.

masculine b'day

It's that time of the year that we need a lot of birthday cards for family members. My brain isn't working too well at coming up with my own ideas so I used this week's sketch at 2 sketches 4 You, as well as the challenge at Card-A-Licious to make a birthday card using blue, green & circles. I wanted to use some different colors of blue & green and found a scrap piece of this patterned paper and went from there. I also used my brand new Unity stamp set that I got this week. Not necessarily thrilled with the final result, but oh well.

Teacher thanks

I used the fall to sketch #38 at Clean & Simple, and combined it with 'fruit day' at 365 cards to come up with this simple thank you for a teacher.

Thinking of you A.Audrey

My dear aunt was just diagnosed with breast cancer on Friday so I wanted to pop a card in the mail for her.
Kelly Jo posted the Color Chef Challenge #3 - Sunflower, Watermelon, Black & white. I thought these would be great "pick-me-up" kind of colors so used them on the card.
Also, Day 52's challenge at 365 cards was to use a blossom, a brad & a circle on a card. So I random stamped black circlular 'things' to create the background paper. The stamp was from an old CTMH booking set.
The card design was inspired by one of Dawn McVey's that I saw awhile ago and loved the look of. She is an amazing card designer!
I had hoped to take the card outside and get a good photo for a change since it's a bright & sunny day here, but with wind gusting to 70 km/hr that didn't work so well! Have to just settle for one taken near a window.

Create

Some more old photos that I'm trying to get scrapped. I used this week's sketch at 52 sketches 52 weeks and challenge #2 at Sisterhood of scrap to create a layout using red, white, blue & yellow.

Another birthday card

I was able to combine a couple of challenges to make this birthday card for a friend.
Firstly, I used the Sketch For You To Try #17 from here, along with a challenge to make a card inspired by the following picture. Sisterhood of Scrap is hosting a 50s themed birthday celebration and this is challenge #1. I used a little dot and black ink to create the polka dot paper and almost went cross-eyed!

Park Fun

I'm using some more challenges to help me get through some of my old photos. This is based on a challenge at Scrap Schemes to be inspired by this:

I have very few photos for 2003 - something to do with having a 6, 3 & 1 year old - so even though it isn't the best it's one of the few of my DS on his own. He was such a cutie!

Happy Birthday Lana

Today is day 50 at 365 cards and the challenge is to create a card based on this sketch. I was away last week so missed out on some fun challenges at the site, but glad to get back at creating. I made this card for my friend's b'day on Wednesday.

Catching up

I've been out of town for 4 days and have been spending the morning getting a bit caught up on my papercrafting blogs and such.

Firstly, I was very excited to get my prize in the mail from 365 cards. Each time a challenge was completed in the month of March, your name was entered into the random drawing and I was selected. The package included lots of cardstock - which you can never have too much of - and some diecuts & rhinestones. It's so great getting that kind of mail.

My second surprise was to see that a card I had created using a sketch at Card Patterns was chosen as one of the top 5 cards of the week. What an honor. You can see it here. There is a new sketch posted today, so I'll have to try to get to that one later this week.

Looking forward to the kids going back to school this week and getting down into my craft room again.

I also decided to add a counter to my blog today. I thought it may be interesting to see how many people stop by.

Very simple gift enclosure

Here's a very simple gift enclosure card using the Color Chef Challenge #2, found here. The colors to use were CTMH's Sorbet, Tulip & White Daisy/. The picture is poor so you can't see there is a bit of glitter on the flowers and some sponging along the bottom. I've been doing a lot of layered cards lately and felt like doing a simple one.

Trifold Birthday card for A. Mary

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to create a tri-fold card. I need a birthday card for my Aunt, so decided to try it. These colors are her colors so I think she'll like it.

Since I've been asked for instructions here they are:

The instructions I originally used were to take a 12x12 piece of paper, make two markings 2.5" from the corners on across from each other. Cut along this diagonal to create the bases for two separate cards. This is how I started but then realized it would be too long for a business size envelope so I decided to shorten it so it will fit. Obviously it's what you prefer. Then you score it at 4" and 8".

money holder

Day 44 challenge at 365 cards is to create a money holder. It just so happens, my son has a b'day party this weekend and at his age, money is usually the preferred gift. He and I created this card this morning:

Heritage Park

This week's challenge at Mix It Up!! was to go postal - you must create your layout using at least one item that is “postal” inspired, such as a stamp inspired patter paper, envelopes, postal stamps, etc… Well I dug out some really old Rebecca Sower stamp & postcard embellishments to use on this layout of our trip to Heritage Park in Calgary 8 yrs ago.

Gift card holder

Scor-It week has began at 365 cards and the first challenge is to create a gift card holder and here's mine, inside then outside:

Freckles

My son hates his freckles, but I love them and decided to document that. Method playground had a challenge to use frames on a layout - more than 2 but less than 100 :) I was almost done this layout but it seemed to need something and adding a few more frames seemed just right. I already had two on the layout, but added four more and it seems to work.

Sympathy to the Zweifels

My cousin's brother in law was killed in a car accident so I needed a sympathy card. I used today's challenge at 365 cards to get me started. The challenge was to not use patterned paper but to create some by stamping on cardstock. This is what I came up with:

Tomorrow is the start of Scor-It week at 365 cards, where projects and tips will be given on using the Scor-It. Also, all projects completed will get your name put in a draw for your own mini Scor-It. Can't wait to see what the challenges are!

Cheery Get Well

Once again, I was able to combine a couple of challenges. Today at 365 cards is Feel Good Friday, and we were to make a get well card with five flowers on it. I also used the new color inspiration from kwernerdesign. I dug out an old CTMH stamp set for this, it was great to put it to use again. This will be a nice cheery get well card to have on hand.

Fun in the Sun

Today's challenge at 365 cards was to be inspired by the surf, sand & sun. I decided that was perfect for the opportunity to use the first Color Chef Challenge, posted here, that was inspired by this bag. The colors are CTMH Sweet Leaf, breeze and white daisy (all colors I just happen to have). Took the picture late so the colors don't come up well, but it is the right ones:)

Farmin'

These are some pics of my son a couple of years ago spending time at my parents farm. The layout was inspired by this ad challenge at Ad This. I love how the grunge board looks like suede when I sponged brown ink on it.

Wacky Wednesday

Today, day 39 at 365 cards, is Wacky Wednesday - use the colors orange, purple and green on a card. I have to admit, I was having troubles with this one! In addition to struggling with what shades to use, I also was having a brain freeze for an idea. Fortunately, Vicki Soloman released a card sketch today at Got Sketch? so I used that and came up with this Wacky card. It should work well for one of my numerous star-ific nieces or nephews.

Buttons, buttons, I guessed how many buttons!

Last week, during Triple the Sketch's blog hop, I hopped over to Alisa's website, here, where she was asking everyone to guess how many buttons were in a little jar. I guessed 212 and turns out I was the closest!! She will be sending me a basket of scrapping goodies and I can't wait to see what's there.

thanks so much, Alisa!

Brother - Hero

Here are some more old pictures that I'm trying to get scrapped so I can fill in some holes in some older albums. I used the Clean and Simple Scrapbook challenge found here. It was a very quick layout!! I converted the sketch below to 8 1/2 x 11, and used a CTMH stamp set. It's hard to believe these pics were taken almost 9 years ago! Sorry about the poor photo.........
